Kinusaiga (roughly translating to "silk picture") is a contemporary Japanese textile art form. Also known as "fabric mosaic" or "fabric painting,". It involves carving a design into a flat board (traditionally wood, but now commonly foam) and tucking fabric scraps into the grooves to create vibrant, textured images.
Each Kit Includes:
- 8x10" selected pattern, adhered to XPS foam board
- Fabric in colors that match the image (with the exception of the border, you will select your border color)
- Wooden stylus
- Snippers
- Ruler
You will also need:
- Craft knife (example: X-acto knife)
- Scissors (for cutting fabric. The snippers includes will allow you to cut close to the foam once the fabric is on the foam, but having larger scissors will allow you to cut out each section of fabric a little easier.)
- Pencil or light colored fine tip pen (this will be used for tracing the pattern on the fabric)
- OPTIONAL: Double-sided tape, glue stick, or other adhesive for the edges/back.
Your kit will come with written instructions.
Fabric shown in photos is for color reference only. Actual fabric included will match the color palette but not the exact print.
